Jack has been playing piano and composing since age ten.
He writes and performs music for the stage, and for film and visual media.
He most recently won the 2023 Apuglia Soundtrack Awards ‘Best Emerging Composer’ category and was a 2023 finalist for an APRA AMCOS Professional Development award.
As a film and theatre composer, Jack most recently composed and joint-performed the score for Saint Kilda Tales: A Performance Rave - a theatrical co-production between Brisbane Music Festival & Victorian Theatre Company which took place in Melbourne over a 3 week season. He has otherwise composed music for several award winning Dominik György films; ‘The Touching’ in 2019 & ‘The Next One’ in 2020 and has written music for award winning directors Dan & Sean Fox; ‘God In The Sky’ 2021, and Adam Ciancio; ‘Laughter Club’, 2022.
As a solo artist he has piano music published within Australia, and most recently released a chamber album; ‘The Tall Trees‘ a collection of introspective neo-classical pieces inspired by the wilds of Bulgaria. He also plays drums for London-based indie-rock band Pseudopomp, and records and performs his own piano music.
He lives in London and is currently preparing the music from Saint Kilda Tales for theatrical release later in the year, alongside composing the score for a new film by Dan & Sean Fox, and several performance and recording engagements with Pseudopomp.
His composing style is influenced greatly by post-minimalism and ambience, as well as elements of modernism and jazz. What is consistent across his work is its strength of emotional conceptualisation; his ideas can stand alongside film, be presented in the concert hall, or be played for a group of friends and always translate their emotional intent clearly. His creative rationale is that music can achieve a timeless quality, and should always seek to do so.
With the goal of writing and playing to provoke true ‘listening’, he hopes to have a meaningful and lasting impact on what people feel through music.
